The Parents Code

Parents/Spectators have a great influence on children's enjoyment and success in football. All children play football because they first and foremost love the game - ITS FUN.

It is important to remember that however good a child becomes at football positive encouragement will contribute to:-

Children enjoying football

A sense of personal achievement

Self-esteem

Improving the child's skills and techniques

How Parents/Spectators should conduct themselves

Parents/spectators should appreciate good football by applauding both teams and always maintain the very high reputation that Junior Football has earned for its appreciation of good play by both teams.

Although Parents/spectators are not playing they should remember to act in a sporting manner as their son's club's reputation will be judged by their behavior. All parents/ spectators should view the game from the touch lines and not from behind the goal. Goal-keepers should not feel intimidated in any way.

Parents/spectators should always remember that the referee and manager are giving up their own free time to ensure that boys in our club are able to participate in competitive football.

Parents/spectators should always respect the referees decisions.

Parents/spectators from opposing teams must never argue with each other. Do not shout and scream at any player/spectator/official. The main aim is to ENJOY THE GAME.

Parents/spectators must not "coach" from the side of the pitch. The players will be given instructions by their team manager/coach and if parents/spectators are instructing players to do something different then the players will only become confused and their performance will suffer.

Parents/spectators should support their children but also encourage other players on both sides.

Parents/spectators should appreciate the efforts of everyone involved: whether your team WINS, LOSES OR DRAWS.
